John doesn't bother to send a reply to that and, instead, just makes the trek to the other man's place that he's been to a couple times now.

Even with Jesus having said the door's unlocked, he still gives a gentle knock to signal his arrival when he does, in fact, arrive and slips his way in, letting the door close behind him with a gentle click. He's dressed in just a white button up shirt and jeans, jacket thrown over him to keep warm. Nothing fancy, but. John doesn't really feel fancy as of late and especially not after... All Of That on the beach and what happened either. Really, he'd rather just forget it entirely.

Taking a moment to toe out of his shoes, he steps inside and looks around, hands in his pockets.

Jesus is also barefoot for once, and sitting cross-legged on the floor, colored chalks and papers spread out around him. Two doodles, like he'd said, but they've expanded into full page abstractions.

He looks up at him with a grin. "Hey."

"Hey," it's said back rather softly, John slowly making his way over, hands still in his pockets. "You still going at it?"

"Yeah, I'm just messing around." He sits up, stretches, and stands in one fluid motion. He tugs John over and kisses him hello, then steps around him to the kitchen for some water.

The kiss is met with a soft brush of his lips over the other man's and he stands there after, watching as Jesus heads to the kitchen. "What's the subject of your messing around?" He asks, glancing back to his little work area there before looking back to Jesus.

"You can't tell?" He teases. Both pages are just swirls of color. He washes the chalk off his fingers and moves over to stand next to John.

"I started that one looking down on traffic," it's blue and black and yellow swirls. "And that one I was just messing around with the chalks. Trying to get used to how they work."

[fireshow]

"You usually use chalk?" It's asked with a brief glance over to him there beside him, gaze falling back to the sheets of paper there on the floor surrounded by chalk. "Or you dabble in a bit of everything? Depends on the mood?"

[hippie_ninja]

"Chalk is new. Easier to clean up than paint," and he doesn't want to mess up his brand new apartment yet. "But yeah, I figure I'll dabble in a little of everything. Why not? Not a lot else to do, right?"

[fireshow]

"Yeah, sure isn't." And the longer he stays here, the more he's not sure what to do with his time. Sigh on his lips, he shakes his head and looks over to Jesus again. "You sketch people? Like... do portraits?"

[hippie_ninja]

"Nothing you'd hang on a wall, but yeah, I used to try," he chuckles, kneeling to start packing things up. Then he offers a piece of chalk up. "Draw something for me."

Brow raised, a huff of disbelief leaves him without even meaning to. "I don't draw. I'm a writer, remember?"

[hippie_ninja]

"Don't have to be to just mess around." He wouldn't call anything on the papers on the floor 'art'.

[fireshow]

Looking to the piece of chalk there, he takes it and stares to it for a long moment before he goes about getting himself down there on the floor and reaching for a paper. "I don't know what to draw."

[hippie_ninja]

"Draw me a tree," he teases, nudging him. "I'm trying to figure out a good spot for my friend to buy some land; she wants a home there. Trying to design one for her."

[fireshow]

"This the one you mentioned having your off the grid thing with?" Tree being the thing suggested, he pulls the paper towards him there on the floor and starts to draw one with the single piece of coloured chalk. The tree being a pine or Christmas one, given the season and all.

[hippie_ninja]

"Yeah. Her name's Rosita." Which is important to know because he wants John and Rosita to meet someday.

"She like your best friend or something?" He doesn't glance up, focusing on his shitty attempt at drawing a Christmas tree that isn't decorated.

[hippie_ninja]

"Yeah," he says, thoughtful. "We've known each other for years. We fought a war together. I hadn't seen her much the past couple of years, though."

But the moment they both arrived here they bonded, drawn together by their past together and the need to close up ranks here.

"So you have someone from where you're from here. Or your world, I guess." Finishing the tree, he looks it over, not finding it to be great or anything but sets his chalk down then as he looks over to Jesus. "Least it's someone you like, right?"
